Even if you're not a good climber, something is enticing about going higher and doing what you can to get higher like in Icy Tower. You've joined a group of vertical enthusiasts as they journeyed to a mysterious tower that seems to stretch up forever. You don't know if anyone has ever made it to the top, but you won't let that discourage you and you're certainly going to try it yourself. Through speed and jumping, it is possible to climb higher and higher with gravity resisting you the whole way but don't let that get you down. Feel the tower power!
Some games were born out of a sense of playing with friends together or competing for high scores. This game is an early version of that, having a link to older social media but works well as a simple arcade game. It's just about going up and trying to get into a bouncy and speedy rhythm to keep hitting those platforms. It may take you a while to get your groove on, but you can't push it otherwise you'll just keep falling. The tower isn't going anywhere so you'll have plenty of chances to try climbing it again and again.
Icy Tower is a 2D endless platform game about trying to climb a tall tower using only the keyboard. You move your character left and right using the Left/Right Arrow keys respectively. The character can also move in these directions while airborne. To jump onto platforms, press the spacebar. The goal is to climb as many floors in the tower as possible before the timer runs out or you fall too far.
When the game begins, you can start moving back and forth to begin orienting yourself to the platforms. They'll typically spawn close together so there will always be one within jumping range. However, you can also build speed when on the ground by running in one direction. Doing so will allow you to build momentum so that you can launch yourself higher up, as indicated by the spinning star jump. Milestones will appear as wooden signs on long unbroken floors. Platforms fall away as you jump up and if you fall too far, you won't have anything to land on.
To make it up the tower, you need to get into a rhythmic jumping pattern. After building up some speed, you have to jump and bounce between platforms never lingering in one place for more than a second. Once master this, you can keep jumping up platforms back and forth without worrying about hitting the walls.
